It was with great sadness that STAGBI learned of the passing of David Lawrie.

David was one of the first STAGBI Directors, appointed in 1998 and remained on the Board of Directors until he retired in 2017. A man with so many positive attributes, not only did he have an active knowledge of standardbred breeding and the sport of harness racing he was blessed with a wonderful sense of humour, an understanding of procedure, the dedication to uphold the principles of a breed society and a stud book, and always the sense of fair play. He was a very valuable and respected Director of STAGBI and was made a Life Member in 2017.

David was the owner of Dremstone Standardbreds in North Berwick, Scotland and bred many horses including those suffixed by ‘Scot’. He also stood the prolific and successful stallion Prince Lee Dancer (US).

The funeral of David Lawrie will be held at Morton Hall Crematorium, 30B Howden Hall Rd, Edinburgh EH16 6TX , on Wednesday, June 12, 2024 at 3 pm.

To his wife Irene, his family and friends we extend our deepest condolences.
