Great to see another full field of mares lining up for the latest leg of the STAGBI Future Broodmares Race. With 5 mares on the gate and 5 on the second line, GREENTREE OUTWEST and OAKS BREEZE were driven assertively from post positions 3 and 5 respectively.  But it was OAKS BREEZE in the determined hands of James Haythornthwaite that led into the first bend.  AYR AMBITION tracked by APOPKA G wasted no time in and were quickly following through from their 2nd line positions.

Despite a fast 28 seconds quarter, Willie Greenhorn pushed AYR AMBITION forward and headed OAKS BREEZE into the seaside bend. Failing to get clearance he sat alongside OAKS BREEZE and both led the closely packed field of 4 in, 5 out and going through the half mile in just under a minute.  As they hit the three quarter mile, James Haythornthwaite asked his filly to move on and immediately opened up by a length or two, AYR AMBITION failed to go with her and forcing APOPKA G to go 3 wide in an attempt to close in on OAKS BREEZE.  But there was no catching OAKS BREEZE who came down the straight to a relatively comfortable victory in 2.01.1 and a new personal best.  APOPKA G and AYR AMBITION finished together and only just ahead of the very fast finishing KAYIA CAMDEN.

OAKS BREEZE is a 4 year old filly by The Preacher Pan (US) out of Hollieoaks/Playwithafulldeck (US).  The filly was regularly placed in the 3 year old Fillies races last year, and won the Group 2 BHRC 3yo Fillies Sire Stakes.  Owned and Bred by C & P Butler and trained by Teresa Haythornthwaite.  Congratulations to all the connections.
