STAGBI’s Annual General Meeting was held over the weekend, and Ryan O Neil was elected the new STAGBI President. Ryan is well known figure in the Standardbred Industry and has been an active and hard working STAGBI Director since 2009. STAGBI and the role of STAGBI President has changed considerably since Ryan first joined STAGBI and there are once again many challenges on the horizon for STAGBI. However with his knowledge, enthusiasm, previous experience and humour we will no doubt see a President that will once again excel at this role. Ryan thanked the out going President, Sue Young. In accepting his new appointment Ryan thanked Sue for all her hard work during her 2 year Presidency and clearly articulated that she was going to be a hard act to follow.
Sadly STAGBI said farewell to some retiring Directors. Sandra Weigel and Dave Lowther, joined the board in 2017 and we thank them for their contribution during the past 6 years. They retired along with Irish representative Nicholas Hannon retired having served on the Board of Directors for nearly 20years, that is some achievement considering the journey STAGBI has undertaken in that time. Nicky, from Dublin always ensured that the voice of members was heard. He was an active Director, if he said he would do something, he would do it. He was supportive to his fellow Directors and to STAGBI’s administrative staff. As recognition of his service and contribution to STAGBI, it was agreed that Nicky become a Life Member of STAGBI. STAGBI Directors would like to thank Sandra, Dave and Nicholas for giving their time and service to STAGBI and wish them all the best in the future.
With Directors retiring new President Ryan O Neil took much pleasure in extending a very warm welcome to the new Directors to the AGM. Namely Charlotte Walker, Elsa Mckenchie and Elizabeth Collingwood. Joe Maw will also join but was unable to attend the AGM due to a prior engagement. We very much look forward to working alongside some new faces and look forward to their contribution.
An update on other news and changes following the meeting will be uploaded to the website as soon as possible.
