Congratulations to the most recent horse to be exported from STAGBI to the US. Oakwood Ardan (IRE) made his first transatlantic start at the Meadowlands last night in the capable and familiar hands of James Haythornthwaite. Both horse and driver put up a great performance to win in 1.50.4.

Oakwood Ardan (IRE), a 4yo son of Sweet Lou (US) was a very familiar name on the British harness racing circuit during the past few seasons. Owned by Claire Fletcher and trained by Theresa Haythornthwaite, Ardan had 6 starts as a 2yo, 2 wins including the Group 1 Junior Welsh Dragon and placed 3 times. At 3, he continued his success with another 4 wins including another Group win, the Little Welsh Dragon at Tregaron and the SHRC Derby.

Indeed, Tregaron was a lucky place for him as he opened this years 4yo campaign by winning the Senior Welsh Dragon (Group 1) . He followed this up with 2 wins at Tir Prince, the North Wales 4yo Championship (Group 2) and the 4yo Breeders Crown. His final win of the season came the 4yo Championship at York. Oakwood Ardan (IRE) had a total of 10 wins, a record of 1.59.1 and earnings of £21,999 in GB prior to his export.

Congratulations to all his connections.
