Many of us are very familiar with seeing standardbreds show some great moves on the track and now some of these wonderful horses are offered an opportunity to show their versatility in the Dressage arena. Recognising the potential of Standardbred off the track, The Tyne and Wear Dressage Championship have now introduced a new category for Standardbreds ‘from Harness racing to Dancing Championship’ at Highfield House Stables, Co Durham.

The series will run from April to September with points allocated every month with an end of season final. The championship is for Standardbreds (pacers or trotters) who have either raced or trained in harness racing.

Classes have been kindly sponsored by Tejays Horseboxes in association with Northern Harness Racing.

More details to follow shortly but in the meantime check out their Facebook page you might also want to see more horse enjoying an alternative career in our SbORT section on the website.
