World champion racehorse and sire American Ideal (US) passed away in Australia on Sunday, Jan. 28 at the age of 22.
He stood at Blue Chip Farms in American but as a dual hemisphere, he was currently in quarantine in Australia ahead of his planned return to America in the next few days. However, sadly he had a severe bout of colic. During subsequent emergency surgery, numerous cancerous masses were revealed, which resulted in the horse being humanely euthanized.
American Ideal p,3,1:47.4 ($855,928), by Western Ideal out of Lifetime Success, was bred and raised by Brittany Farms and sold as a Tattersalls yearling. He raced at 2, 3, & 4 years of age winning the Tattersalls Pace, Confederation Cup, Provincial Cup and set a World Record when winning the Bluegrass Stakes, 1.47.4.
