Royal Return aka Radge is a 19 year old Standardbred Trotter by Royal Doughboy (US) out of a New Zealand mare Sister Min (NZ) and bred by John Wright.
He started racing at the age of 3, and was owned and trained throughout his racing career by Stephen and Susan Poole. He had 2 wins at three which included the 3yo BHRC Prakas Derby and he subsequently won the Prakas Championship in 2010. He was placed in the 2009 Prakas and 2010 Roosevelt Cup. Owned by Maria Angilletta and ridden by Julie Cooney, for the past seven years Radge has enjoyed an alternative career and now successfully competes in Endurance competition which his owner. In that time he has been National Champion twice with Sport Endurance and have competed up to the 50 miles category.
Radge started competing with EGB in 2022 and in his first season he finished 3rd nationally in the Novice Championships.
In 2023 Radge became the first winner of the STAGBI Trophy for the most successful Standardbred with most points competing in graded rides with Endurance GB 2023. Talavary Mystic (Kath Ellis) finished second, 3rd Ithon Nero (Sarah Walker) and 4th Brywins Tonto (Kath Ellis). Congratulations to you all.
