Stallion Licensing & Grading
All stallions for stud MUST BE registered and have a stallion Licence before their progeny can be registered as full bred Standardbreds.
Apply for Mating Certificates
It is the Stallion Owner’s responsibility to apply for Mating Certificates. Mating Certificates should be applied for BEFORE 31st Dec in the year of covering.
Artificial Insemination (AI)
Embryo Transfer (ET)
The use of ET is permitted in the breeding of Standardbreds within the Rules and Regulations specified by STAGBI and International agreed conditions.
Ownership
Change of Ownership
Equine Regulation require that you notify a change of ownership within 30 days. It is the responsibility of the new owner to inform STAGBI of the change of ownership
Lease of Ownership
If you are leasing a horse for racing, breeding or pleasure purpose, you are required to notify STAGBI.
Import/Export
Import from Ireland (IHRA)
If you are importing a horse from Ireland that is currently registered with the IHRA you will then need to register the horse with STAGBI
Import from EU
In accordance with Equine Regulation if you are permanently importing a Standardbred horse or trotter from the EU you will need to register the horse with STAGBI within 30 days of import.
Import from America / Canada / Australia
In accordance with Equine Regulation if you are permanently importing a Standardbred horse or trotter from outside EU you will need to register the horse with STAGBI
Export to Ireland (IHRA)
If you are exporting a horse to another country you will need to apply for an Certificate BEFORE the horse leaves UK.
Export to EU or North America
If you are exporting a horse to another country you will need to apply for an Certificate BEFORE the horse leaves UK.
